BBC
The BBC runs a number of initiatives supporting skills.
BBC Skillswise
Aims to help adults improve their reading, writing and maths skills. It is targeted at Level 1 of the adult Basic Skills Literacy & Numeracy Curriculums for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
the site is suitable for any adult who wants to improve their reading, writing and maths skills. If you want to brush up on your punctuation, or you want to find out how to work out the percentage of your pay rise, you should find it here. Just remember, the materials are designed to be a resource, not a course. So dip in and take what you need.
This site also provides curriculum resources for basic skills tutors and a resources area, the Tutor Centre, where tutors can share good ideas and seek inspiration.
The Skillswise site is being developed and created by BBC Interactive Factual and Learning. Staff in the Skillswise team have been involved in education websites for a number of years and most members of the team have some experience of working in a basic skills classroom through studying for a volunteer / introduction to teaching qualification.
The Skillswise site has been developed with the Basic Skills Agency and qualified basic skills tutors. The tutors have helped create the site through developing ideas based around the curriculums. They also write all our quizzes, factsheets and worksheets.

BBC RaW
RaW is the BBC’s largest ever campaign. It aims to help adults across the UK read and write better.
RaW has broad appeal, however, there is a special focus on families.
The Raw campaign runs events across the county with a current focus on storytelling.
